Rick Gary - Director of Chemicals, Big Man Washes, Inc.

Rick grew up in the heart of Texas in the small town of Brady. He is the son of W.T. and Viola Gary. His two brothers, Travis and W.T. Gary, Jr., and a sister, Brenda, all still reside in the state of Texas.

Rick and his wife, Kia, live in Carrollton. They were married in May of 1981 and have 2 sons, Adam and Nicholas.

Each summer, beginning at age 10 and ending 8 years later, Rick worked at his fatherís trucking transport company, Brady Butane. He did everything from servicing semi-trailer trucks, including oil changes, packing bearings, changing tires and degreasing motors, to washing and detailing. Rick, like his father before him, learned early in his life that he received an immense amount of satisfaction from helping people, and the importance of building relationships through trust.

During his senior year in high school, he truly discovered his gift for sales when he placed first in Sales Demonstration at Distributive Education Regional competition. This was a pivotal period in Rickís life and lead to his eventual pursuit of a career in sales and service.

Growing up Rick also enjoyed participating in sports. During his junior and senior years in high school, he was named All District in golf, and played on the varsity football team. Upon graduation in 1974, he accepted a golf scholarship to play for Tarleton State University. In 1975, he transferred to Angelo State University where he accepted a scholarship in golf and made All Conference in 1978. In 1979 his team won the Lone Star Conference.

Rick graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He began his career as a golf professional in Wichita Falls then later at San Angelo Country Club.

In 1981, Rick was given the opportunity to join an elite sales team working for Benjamin Moore Paint Company, and began a career in sales in earnest. He excelled at managing a territory based out of the Bryan/College Station area of East Texas, and was promoted to managing a territory based out of Austin in 1987. It was while he was in Austin that Rick became intrigued with the car wash industry and accepted a position managing a new upscale full-service car wash in the exclusive Austin community of Westlake Hills. In 1990, Rick obtained the rights to distribute Pro Detail products in the Dallas area, and started his own company, Gary Distributing. Later, he would become part owner and Manager of Midway Car Wash in Dallas where during the next several years he continued to build a successful business. The wash was sold to Oasis in August 1999 and Rick joined Ecolabís Vehicle Care division as a Sales Representative.

Rick became Director of Chemical Sales for Big Man Washes in March 2007.
